Meet Dr. Sawyer

K. Sawyer Negro, DDS, MSD may have grown up in Illinois but he found his home in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest.

After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, he earned his Degree of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Illinois at Chicago. During dental school, he was president of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry (AAPHD) and was active in many volunteer-based activities. The Indian Health Services department granted him an externship in Alaska, where he worked in Barrow and the small village of Point Lay. After graduating, he then earned a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital, along with his Master’s in Science of Dentistry. His thesis concentrated on social workers and children in foster care. Dr. Sawyer is Board Certified, a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

His passion in the office focuses on early dental visits (often starting at birth, if complications of tongue/lip ties occur) which lead to much lower rates of cavities for the community. Sawyer sees all of his children in the practice as his own, and vows to have them grow up with healthy smiles and low dental fear or anxiety. Whenever he considers a treatment for one of his families, he asks himself, "What would I want with my children?"

When not at the office, he loves spending time with this partner in crime, Audrey, and their stinking cute children, Ellis and Talus.

Dr Sawyer is voted 2023 Readers’ Choice Winner by Cascadia Daily News for BEST DENTIST!
